History
Aomori Prefecture describes active exchange among woodturners within Tsugaru and from other prefectures during the Meiji period, with Hirosaki work continuing through the Ōwani branch. The prefecture names Nuruyu Onsen in Kuroishi as the birthplace of Tsugaru kokeshi.
